Banff National Park (October 2004)
I had business in Calgary in late October 2004. I spent one day in Banff National Park. This spectacular park in the Canadian Rockies is good for winter finches and other northern specialties. I saw Rough-legged Hawk, White-winged Crossbill, Bohemian Waxwing, Pine Grosbeak, American Dipper, Gray Jay, Common Redpoll, and Boreal Chickadee. The most interesting experience was seeing a small flock that contained all three chickadees — Black-capped, Mountain, and Boreal.
